On the other hand...

1000 dollars aproximatly in 7 days is a lot of money in such a short time to spend. I suppose I could always continue to build up my leave time for later on down the road when I may really need it. Hopefully sooner than later I will be leaving for the airman program for 4 months and then on my way to North Carolina for school, that is just a short drive away compared to Alaska.. So on one hand I would really like to come see friends and family, but on the other hand is isnt very economical and I could wait till im stationed closer to home... Let me know what yall think

hmmm....now that is a dilemma, Son!
the decision is entirely up to you.
you have made good arguments for both. it is always a good idea to have some vacation time built up at any job you would have, just for emergency situations, like a family illness or death....one just never knows what the next day may bring. perhaps you should save it for now and work on building up more time before you use it. Seeing your Dad in May will help with the homesickness and you may feel much better after he visits!
At least we get to talk often and your blog is wonderful for keeping in touch! Hope this helps! love, mom

Hi Tom,

I agree with your mom, it's good to hold a few days of leave in reserve just in case of emergency. I also agree with you Tom, that is alot of money for you to spend for such a short visit. This is just my 2 cents worth of advice, save up some more leave and money. Find out times and dates on flight school and when you are going to N. Carolina before you make travel plans. Love ya, Dad
